Brown corundum is mainly used as a recyclable abrasive in blasting boxes. Due to its low iron oxide content, it is often used in blasting applications where iron contamination is not allowed on non-ferrous metal substrates. Brown corundum is a very hard and sharp abrasive that quickly cleans the substrate. After blasting, it leaves an anchor profile and is suitable for removing scale, rust and old paint.
Brown corundum grains have the necessary hardness, abrasive properties and are suitable as an abrasive for surface preparation. FEPA grading abrasive grains are used for the production of abrasive tools and abrasives for blasting. Brown corundum is produced by burning bauxite in induction furnaces at a temperature of 1600 °C. After the 5-tonne block cools, the brown corundum is crushed and sorted. The raw material is prepared for the sorting line by a cascade of cylindrical and jaw crushers. On the sorting line, the grain is sorted and shaped according to customer requirements.
